Title

Giving Our Best

Scripture
The house to be built for the Lord must be exceedingly magnificent, famous and glorious… So David made abundant preparations before his death.
(1 Chronicles 22:5)
Devotional
The estimates of David’s preparations for the house of the Lord are said to have been worth $3.28 billion. David understood that what is done for the Lord is worth the very best we have to give. Furthermore, it is worth giving not only our best, but it may entail giving sacrificially. When David desired to purchase the threshing floor of Ornan for the building of God’s house, Ornan offered it to him at no coast. Nevertheless, David said, “No, but I will surely buy it for the full price, for I will not… offer… offerings with that which costs me nothing.” Here again is why David was called a man after God’s own heart. He understood the value of sacrificial offerings and giving the very best we have. We may not have the ability to give $3.28 billion, but we do have the ability to give our best and to do so sacrificially.
