Look For The Message

Scripture
Elisha sent a messenger to him, saying “Go and wash in the Jordan seven times…
(2 Kings 5:10)
Devotional
Naaman was offended that Elisha did not come out to meet him personally and almost went home without being healed of his leprosy. We, like Naaman, often want personal attention when a messenger will serve our needs far better. As a minister of the gospel, I am constantly amazed with the phone calls I get on Monday from people who want counsel for the same thing I preached on Sunday. And inevitably, they were not in church that Sunday. Instead of receiving the message God intended them to have, they would rather have the spontaneous response of the messenger. We must learn to understand that the message is of far greater importance than the messenger. Naaman obeyed the message and God healed him of his leprosy. Seek the attention of the message, not the messenger. Do not allow your ego to get in the way of God’s blessing for your life.
