Title

Rising above Anger

Scripture
He who is slow to anger is better than the mighty, and he who rules his spirit than he who takes a city.
(Proverbs 16:32)
Devotional
I do not know about you, but when I react out of anger, I react poorly. When I speak out of anger, I eventually have to repent and apologize for my words. The mighty even though they may take a city will eventually fall if they are controlled by anger instead of sound judgment. My personal sin bent is that of “anger.” Throughout my life I have had to struggle with a hot temper. Many a time it has caused me much grief and heartache. Likewise my outburst of anger has hurt and pained others as well. I have found that if I can wait before I react to my anger that my anger eventually subsides. If I can wait twenty-four hours to respond I am in a better state of mind to deal with those things that angered me. However, if I wait much longer, I find that I neglect to deal with the situation at all. This is just as bad if not worse than the first state.
