Title

The Evil Report is not Always So

Scripture
Now a messenger came to David, saying, “The hearts of the men of Israel are with Absalom.”
(2 Samuel 15:13)
Devotional
We are not to believe nor take to heart every evil report. The hearts of all the men were not with Absalom. There will always be bad reports. It is in our nature to see and hear them first. Good news travels much more slowly than bad news. The evil report gets more attention than the good report. Read the newspapers or watch the television reports. We respond to the evil report more quickly because we more than often have an evil mindset. I do not mean that we are evil, but that our thinking is tainted by the evil of our world. David surely knew of the scheming tactics of his son Absalom. Therefore he was governed by his perception. Absalom was winning the favor of the people, but David was the king. Likewise sin may be winning the favor of the people in your life, but remember you are a child of the King.
