Jealousy is Deadly

Scripture
Saul was very angry, and the saying displeased him; and he said, “They have ascribed to David ten thousand, and to me… only thousands. Now what more can he have but the kingdom?”
(1 Samuel 18:8)
Devotional
Jealousy is deadly. It not only destroys the one holding on to it, it injures all who come in contact with it. Saul’s jealousy not only drove his greatest warrior away. It alienated him from his family and eventually drove the kingdom from him. Jealousy drove Israel’s first king mad. You and I are no different. If we allow jealousy to rule in our members, we like Saul of old, will drive away those that love us and those we love. If you are jealous of the better man, your jealousy will cause him to further excel over you. King Saul was jealous of his most loyal servant, David. The more he attempted to do David harm, the more David triumphed. Jealousy in the fruit of insecurity. Insecurity is the fruit of trusting in ourselves instead of Christ. Any security out side of Christ will eventually cause insecurity and lead to jealousy. Are you jealous, repent of it and put your trust in the Lord Jesus Christ.
