Devotional
The enemies of the Lord will use all of man’s devices. They will attempt to defeat you and me through their tauntings and intimidations. Often, their armies will be bigger and the weapons of their warfare greater. Nevertheless, as the scripture says, “The weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds.” The weapons David chose were not those of a warrior, but the simple sling of a shepherd. David simple did what he knew to defeat the Philistine giant Goliath. Because of his obedience as a shepherd, God used him as an obedient warrior. David served his father and he God obediently in the simple tasks, therefore the spirit of God was on him for the greater task. The battle is the Lord’s in the small wars of life as well as the great wars. Whether defending sheep or combating giants, fight your battles in the name of the Lord of Hosts.
