(Judges 14:16)
Devotional
Never succumb to the wails of a lying heart, no matter how much you desire to quiet it. Likewise never use tears and sorrow to propagate a lie. Both are evil and bring about bitterness and the death of a relationship. Wives never use emotion to get your way and husbands never allow emotion to divert you from the truth. Anytime we give way to lies and deceit to acquire our own way, we yield to sin and sin’s wages. The Bible is clear, “The wages of sin is death.” Ladies, your tears and softness is a powerful tool, use them not only wisely but also honestly. Gentlemen, likewise, we are vulnerable to them; receive them wisely and respond to them honestly. Do not be deceptive like Samson’s wife, or susceptible as Samson. Remember his later succumbing to false tears of Delilah cost him his strength, sight and finally his life.
