Title

We Are Somebody In Christ

Scripture
For you are a holy people to the Lord your God, and the Lord has chosen you to be a people for Himself, a special treasure above all people who are on the face of the earth.
(Deuteronomy 14:2)
Devotional
The apostle Peter said it this way, “But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people.” You and I are children of the King. God says that we are special. Therefore, we need to live as if we are a people chosen by God. The world needs to see that we are different. We are to live to a higher standard. Our character is to be that of Christ Himself. Our “yes” is to mean yes, and our “no” is to mean no. As God’s special treasure, we are to be people of praise and worship. Should not a royal priesthood convey worship and praise? Shouldn’t we manifest our love for God by loving each other? There is no room for a holy people to be filled with only self-interests. Being above all people of the earth is not to be a place of arrogance and presumption. It is to be a place of humility and service. It is for this reason God has chosen us. Let us therefore live up to our calling in Christ.
Text For The Day
Deuteronomy 14:2: “For you are a holy people to the Lord your God, and the Lord has chosen you to be a people for Himself, a special treasure above all the peoples who are on the face of the earth.”
Thought For The Day
“When disaster strikes and innocent people suffer, or especially when something bad happens to a good person, Christians often ask, ‘Where was God?’ But if Christians accept that they are People of God, it may be better to ask, ‘Where were the People of God?’” Father Henry Fehren in U.S. Catholic (May 1986)
Questions To Ponder
Morning Study Guide

Defining:  “Holy People”:  Holiness goes beyond piety, humility, and godliness. Our holiness is founded on our relationship with the Creator of the universe. Holiness has little to do with our abilities and ways, but everything to do with God’s abilities in our ways.

Referencing: “Jesus Christ… gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works,” Titus 2:13-14.

Applying: If you belong to Christ, you are a holy generation, His own special person; therefore do works worthy of your holiness.
