When there is No One Left but God

And Aaron died there on the top of the mountain.

Devotional
Leadership has its hardships. The twentieth chapter of Numbers begins with the death of Miriam, the sister of Moses and Aaron. Moses, now a very old man, was all alone. His sister who placed him as an infant in the Nile and watched as Pharaoh’s daughter took him as her son was now gone. His spokesman, priest and big brother was also no more. Who would be his confidants? With whom would he reminisce? If Miriam and Aaron were all that he had, he would be most pitiable. However, Moses had the dearest of friends, his God. Leadership cannot depend on anything or anyone other than the one that is followed. Moses was a great leader because of his relationship with God, not because of his relationship with his family. His relationship with his family was great because his relation with his God was greater. Hardships will come; how we handle them will depend on how we have handled our relationship with the Lord our God.
