Title

Christ Is the Brightness of Light

Scripture
For with You is the fountain of life; in Your light we see light.
(Psalm 36:9)
Devotional
The Lord God is the source of all life. The book of Acts says, “For in Him we live and move and have our being.” (1) The more we drink from this fountain the more life we have. Jesus said that He came that we might have life, and that we may have it more abundantly. When we drink from the fountain of life, we have a clearer understanding of the Creator’s will for our lives. We will see life more brightly. The brightest of days is made brighter; as the Psalmist said, “Even the night shall be light about me.” (2) Without Christ we are in darkness. Even the light of day is to be illuminated by the light of the gospel of Christ. Jesus Christ is truly the light of the world. He allows our lights to so shine that others may see our good works and glorify our Father in heaven. Therefore we say, “In Your light we see light.”
Thought For The Night
“To look up into a dark sky and see it suddenly open as lightning plays across it, to see in one revealing flash deep into the kingdoms of light, is to know what prayer most truly is. There is mystery, but beyond that darkness is not a deeper darkness, but light—kingdoms of light.” Amy Carmichael, (1867–1951) Missionary to India, founder of the Dohnavur Fellowship, a society devoted to saving neglected and ill-treated children.
