(Numbers 1:2)
Devotional
It has been said that when someone says that it is not about the money, but it is the principle of the thing, you can be assured, it is about the money. The same goes when you hear a preacher state that numbers are not important; it is most likely because he has none. Numbers matter very much. They are God’s instruments of measure. There is information in numbers as well as power. Numbers more than often reflect success. Whether in the parable of the talents or the bearing of fruit, the amount returned makes the difference. The Bible teaches that there is strength in numbers when it says, “A three fold cord is not quickly broken.” Numbers reflect growth as well as decline, wealth and poverty. It is wise to know the numbers because it is wise to know the condition of your flock. Therefore, take a census of that which God has placed in your care.
