Answer Wisely, Not Rashly

Scripture
Then all the people answered together and said, “All that the Lord has spoken we will do.”

Devotional
It is easy to say what we will do before we know what all has to be done. Whether it is because of the excitement of the moment or the inspiration of the speaker, we often commit before we are committed. This we do both to what is right as well as to what is wrong. ?Jesus said that we are to first count the cost. We know the end result of the people in the wilderness. We know that they did not do all that the Lord had spoken. We are to obey all of the Lord’s commands. However, we are to make sure that we do not vow to do what we will not do. There are many things that the Lord asks of us that can be answered correctly but differently. Therefore, we are to make sure of our answer. If we pledge to do such and such, we are to do it. If we commit to a task, we are bound to that task. We are not to answer rashly, but wisely.
