Title

The Source of Our Goodness

Scripture
You are my Lord, my goodness is nothing apart from You.
(Psalm 16:2)
Devotional
No matter how good I may attempt to be, aside form Christ I am no good at all. Isaiah says that, “All our righteousness is like filthy rags. We are not saved from our sins because of our own goodness. We do our best not to sin because we are saved from our sins. The apostle Paul said it this way, “For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh) nothing good dwells.” We are to do good because Christ in us is good. Our old nature is that of sin and corruption. Our new nature is to be of Christ’s righteousness and incorruption. It is for this reason that all that is to matter in the life of a believer is Christ. He is to get all the glory for anything we accomplish. He is to receive the praise of any goodness that we achieve. Our success and fortune is nothing aside from Christ. He is to be Lord of every realm of our lives. He is the reason that we are able to do anything worthy of being called good.
