Title

Walk with Excellence

Scripture
Reuben, you are my firstborn, my might and the beginning of my strength, the excellency of dignity and the excellency of power.
(Genesis 49:3)
Devotional
We are never to forget that we carry the name of our forefathers. It does not matter if they were royalty or scoundrels; we are required, by the mandate of God, to honor them in word and deed. We are to do our best to live a life of excellence. Consider the awesome phrase, “Excellency of dignity.” When we conduct ourselves with dignity, we bring honor not only to our parents, but to God as well. Therefore, as children of the King, “Excellency of dignity” is to speak honorably, act with nobility and walk in integrity. It is never to be rude or self-seeking. We are to continually be aware of our heritage in Christ. As Reuben was the firstborn of Jacob, we are the church of the firstborn. Do not be unstable as Reuben, remember your heritage and walk in “Excellency of dignity” because we have the “Excellency of power,” Jesus Christ the only begotten son of God.
