Title

Don’t Just Stand There

Scripture
Jacob said to his sons, “Why do you look at one another?”
(Genesis 42:1)
Devotional
Jacob’s sons, like many good people, were idley standing by when there was a need and work to be done. I can almost see as well as hear Jacob saying in a chastising manner, “Don’t just stand there, do something!” I have found that when there was a job to be done, if I would just start working at it, it would eventually get done. We just too often have a lottery mentality. We think that if I stand around long enough something good will happen to me. The sadder fact is that some folks stand around waiting to win the lottery and do not even buy a ticket. Success always comes to people who are moving. For example, it is always easier to get a job if you have a job. When anything living stops moving, atrophy immediately begins to set in. Therefore, remember the wise words of Jacob. Whenever there is a need or desire, don’t just stand there looking at one another. Go do something.
