Wealth is a Fruit of the Root

(Genesis 13:2)
Devotional
Abraham’s wealth was a mere byproduct of his faithfulness. He simply believed God, as the scriptures say, and it was accounted to him for righteousness. This righteousness was accompanied by wealth. His wealth was not the purpose of his righteousness, but a fruit of righteousness. Abraham’s faithfulness and righteousness were altogether based on his relationship to Christ. Remember, “Abraham believed God.” If Abraham’s desire had been toward wealth alone, wealth most likely would have avoided him. Abraham’s wealth, again, was a fruit based on the root of his righteousness. The Lord and Abraham used this wealth to glorify God. If our only view of greatness is based on wealth we are foolishly narrow in our understanding. God used Abraham and Abraham used his wealth to further the kingdom of God. Desire to do the same and be a blessing as was father Abraham. For if we learn to be faithful with what we have, God will entrust us with more.
