Title

Get Out Of The Dust

Scripture
He raises the poor out of the dust, and lifts the needy out of the ash heap.
(Psalm 113:7)
Devotional
I do not believe that it is God’s will for His people to live in poverty. I do not see it in His Word. Poverty is very time consuming. It is unhealthy and life shortening. It has no influence nor endowment. It is not a sin to be impoverished unless it is by laziness and apathy. Nevertheless, if God is willing to raise the poor and the needy, then the poor and the needy can be raised. If I can improve my ability to gain substance and wealth, should I? I suppose that all depends on my purpose. If my motive is greed and self-centeredness, I am better off in my poverty. On the other hand, if my purpose is to glorify God and edify people, then I must seek prosperity with diligence. Furthermore, if God raises the poor and needy, He must give direction to accomplish it. This direction is found in His Word, through godliness and by wise counsel. It is time for God’s people to be raised up out of poverty.
