Title

The Folly Of The Fool

Scripture
Answer a fool according to his folly, lest he be wise in his own eyes.
(Proverbs 26:5)
Devotional
The folly of the fool is presumption. The fool will always judge according to his own actions. He will assume that your reasoning would be the same as his. Therefore when a foolish comment comes your way, do not let it land nor affect your countenance. Jabs and digs will always be a part of the fool's vocabulary. Do not make it a part of yours. Refuse to contend with the foolish. If you do, you will assist in making him wise in his own eyes, furthering his foolishness. How are you to answer? You are to answer wisely. Always respond with the truth, and do so in love. Likewise, do not be one of the foolish. Keep yourself from senseless comments. Think long before you speak, and when you speak, keep it short and pleasant. You do not always have to have something to say. Remember, “Even a fool is counted wise when he holds his peace, when he shuts his lips, he is considered perceptive.”
