Title

Avoid Counselors Of Darkness

Scripture
And when they say to you, “Seek those who are mediums and wizards, who whisper and mutter,” should not a people seek their God?
(Isaiah 8:19)
Devotional
To whom or what do you turn when troubles come? Where do you look for the answers to life’s questions? When we turn to anything or anybody other than the one true God, we turn to a fool’s counsel. How foolish of people, especially God’s people, to turn to tellers of lies and counselors of darkness. Horoscopes, good-luck-charms, and the like have no place in the kingdom of God. These things are not cute, nor are they harmless. They are demonic and deadly. Television mediums and newspaper wizards are to be avoided completely. There are no short-cuts in life. People who seek out these things are the same people who buy lottery tickets and get rich schemes. Nothing replaces faith in God and faithful work. If you have played with these things, stop. If you have not, do not start. As our text clearly states, “Should not a people seek their God?”
