Title

Procuring The Hearts Of The People

Scripture
So he swayed the hearts of all the men of Judah, just as the heart of one man…
(2 Samuel 19:14)
Devotional
To lead, one must have the hearts of the people. David realized it even in his mourning for his rebellious son Absalom. When the king's son attempted to take control of his father’s kingdom the bible says that, “Absalom stole the hearts of the men of Israel.” Here in this test, David “Won over the hearts of all the men of Israel.” Thus, whether by good or evil, to lead, one must have the hearts of the people. Therefore, there will be leaders who have rightfully won the hearts of the people and there will be leaders who have stolen the hearts of the people. The difference between the two is that one will be in honor and the other in dishonor. One results in death the other in honor. Those who steal the hearts of the people are liars. They feed on the greed, lust and laziness of the people. Those who win the hearts of the people do so in righteousness, integrity and diligence. How are you acquiring the hearts of the people?
