Title

Dealing With Temptation

Scripture
Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.
(Mark 14:38)
Devotional
As always, there is awesome power in the Word of the Lord. Here the Lord speaks to every realm of mankind. His words are filled with the emotion of the hour. His instruction is directed toward our physical weakness, and His understanding reveals the willingness of the spirit. Here we see the importance of prayer. Prayer is more than communion with God. Prayer is God ministering to us. Jesus said, that when we fail to pray, we open ourselves up to temptations. We make ourselves vulnerable to the weakness of the flesh. As believers, we have the Spirit of Christ dwelling within us. The book of Romans says, “The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God.” Prayer keeps us spiritual. That is, prayer keeps us in tune with the Lord. God knows that you are willing, but He also knows that our flesh is weak. Therefore, constant yielding to temptation is a clear indicator that you need to watch and pray.
