Title

A Real God Deals With Real People

Scripture
…blind Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, sat by the road begging.
(Mark 10:46)
Devotional
The Bible deals with real situations and real people. Those who would claim it to be a book of myths and fables have to ignore such people as Bartimaeus. As in the days of it’s writing, the Bible still deals with real situations and real people. It is applicable as well as eternal. We are to learn from the Biblical characters the character of mankind. The story of blind Bartimaeus teaches us the reality of the work of the Lord. Jesus asked him, “What do you want me to do for you?” Why do you think that Jesus asked him such a question? His need seems to have been obvious. Nevertheless, it was not. This man was a beggar, he was blind and he was without Christ. Jesus knew that his greatest need was not for sight, but salvation. What is it that you would have Jesus do for you?
