Title

Great Leaders Humbly Follow

Scripture
Now the man Moses was very humble, more than all men who were on the face of the earth.
(Exodus 12:3)
Devotional
One of the greatest leaders of all time was also one of the humblest. The lesson is simple; greatness is to be accompanied by humility. The apostle Peter said, “God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.” Therefore a crucial key to godly leadership is humility. Pride has no place in leading. We cannot lead if our motives are self serving. God is unable to use the person who leads for the sake of self gain. If you desire to lead, serve. If God calls you to lead, obey. When you lead, make sure that you are also following. If we can humbly follow, we can humble lead. Moses was mightily used by God; nevertheless, he humbled himself in His presence. God honored Moses and Moses humbled himself. Moses knew his limitation. He understood that unless the Lord led him that his leading was in vain. “Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time.”
