Title

One At A Time

Scripture
What do you think? If a man has a hundred sheep, and one of them goes astray, does he not leave the ninety-nine and go to the mountains to seek the one that is straying?
(Matthew 18:12)
Devotional
This verse of scripture has been haunting to me. I have always wondered why the Lord would have us to leave the majority for the minority. If I were in the crowd when the question was asked, I most likely would have sheepishly raised my hand. Here is where I must not lean on my own understanding, but seek the understanding of Christ. At that, I have to believe that the scripture is true. Therefore, there is great significance in the value of one, whether it is one sheep, one person, or even one dollar. The problem with me was that I tried to get it all at once. Instead of growing one step at a time, I wanted to grow by leaps-and-bounds; but the best growth comes by showing great interest in one person at a time. The reason Jesus would have us leave the ninety-nine for the one is because the ninety-nine are made-up of one at a time. Therefore when attempting to reach a crowd of people or a wealth of finances, do so one at a time. For each is significant and adds to the whole.
