Sweet Sleep

Scripture
When you lie down, you will not be afraid; Yes, you will lie down and your sleep will be sweet.
(Proverbs 3:24)
Devotional
Sweet sleep is the fruit of wisdom. The ability to lie down without fear is a choice we have the ability to make. It is all a matter of trusting in the Lord your God. Now understand, not being able to sleep does not necessarily indicate that there is sin in your life. Nevertheless it does indicate a problem in your life. Likewise, even though fear is not of God, it is not to cause guilt. However, we need to heed the apostle Paul’s counsel to Timothy, “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” Therefore, when fear haunts you, reject it. Call on the Lord God to deliver you. If the darkness causes you to fear, rebuke the darkness with light-both physical and spiritual. Turn on the light and open up the Word. Instead of counting sheep, pray. Pray for your family, friends, church, even you enemies, and just watch the comfort of heaviness come to your eyes with sweet sleep.
