Title

The Church Found on Level Ground

Scripture
My foot stands in an even place; in the congregations I will bless the Lord.
(Psalm 26:12)
Devotional
The Church of Jesus Christ is the place of level ground. It is where we are kept from stumbling, the place where God dwells. The slippery slope of life is the abode of the deceiver of the brethren. It is a rocky path that parallels the abyss of hell. The difference between the two is easy to distinguish: Level ground is where God’s people stand and praise His name; the slippery slope is where the world stands and curses His name. The off-camber turns and dark alleys of the world will inevitably cause those who walk therein to stumble and fall.
The straight and narrow way of the level ground is sure. It is neither the way of temptation, nor the way of arrogant pride. When we walk on the level ground, we walk with hands raised in praise and held up in adoration. There is no blessing by the Lord on the twisted roads that lead to destruction. With whom are you walking? Is your footing sure? Do you walk with the Lord? “Praise Him, O you servants of the Lord! You who stand in the house of the Lord.”(1)

Defining: No matter how well built the structure, if the foundation is unstable, the structure will not stand. If the foundation of the Church is anything other than Christ Jesus, the church will not stand. If the road you are walking is not built on this foundation, you are walking a crooked, unstable road and you will trip and fall.

Referencing: “If the foundations are destroyed, What can the righteous do?” Psalm 11:3.

Applying: Make sure that you are walking the straight and narrow road that leads to life and life everlasting. It is an honest road with no deviations or wayside stops.
