You younger people, submit yourselves to your elders. Yes, all of you be submissive to one another, and be clothed with humility, for “God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.”

Devotional
The Spiritual life is a yielded life. A yielded life is a humble life, and a humble life receives grace from God. We are to be quick to submit to the authority of others, especially those who out-rank us in age or position. You will always know who to lead if you are first willing to follow. Let leadership come to the top, not start at the top. Be called forward instead of assuming the front position. Not only will God resist the proud, so will people. To be submissive is simply to be a servant. Humility is basically having a servant’s heart. We submit to others by being first willing to listen to them. Always attempt to learn something from everyone you meet. If they have an area of expertise, yield to that area. Never forget that those who are your elders have the experience of years of life. There is wisdom in seniority.
