Title

When God Says That It Is Good

Scripture
Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!
(Psalm 133:1)
Devotional
When God says that something is good and pleasant, you can be assured that it is very good and very pleasant. However, in our arrogance, we attempt to justify ourselves. We think that our situations are different. God’s promises are good for others, but I am special. My problems are unique. Surely God would not expect me to get along with so-and-so. He certainly would not expect me to forgive my brother, or my sister, or my mother, or my father? He would not want me to be at peace with them, would He? You know the answer. It is not only God’s desire, it is His command. Furthermore, keeping this command comes with a wonderful promise. He says that it will be good and pleasant. Think about this, if there is no unity, then instead of goodness you have bad and instead of pleasant, you have hurt. It is not a difficult choice.
