Title

The Blessings Of Sacrifice

Scripture
But do not forget to do good and to share, for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.
(Hebrews 13:16)
Devotional
Doing good and sharing do not come naturally. If they did, the Bible would not call them sacrifices. Even the good that we believe we are doing comes with a self gratification. Again, the majority of the good we do is done for selfish reasons. Furthermore, we usually share from our abundance; seldom do we do so from our need. Doing good and sharing from our prosperity requires little or no sacrifice. Doing good and sharing from our poverty is true sacrifice. There is great blessing in sacrificial giving. First of all, it is done out of obedience to God. Secondly, it becomes a God-given desire. Sacrificial giving demands exercised faith. For us to do good and share sacrificially, God has to supply the ability. Giving of tithes and offerings is not a sacrifice. It is our reasonable service. When we give sacrificially, God is well pleased.
