Title

Why Labor In Vain?

Scripture
Unless the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain who build it; unless the Lord guards the city, the watchman stays awake in vain.
(Psalm 127:1)
Devotional
It does not matter how noble the achievement nor grand the project; unless the Lord executes the task, it will prove to be valueless at best. Man’s greatest accomplishments, void of the presence of the Lord, will inevitably prove to be futile. Time and eternity will always affirm the accomplishment. How do we know whether it is the work of the Lord or the work of man? The answer will be evident: God will receive the glory, not man. You will know that without divine intervention the task could not have been completed. When the Lord builds the house, the endeavor will always be larger than you. You will know that to take any credit for the accomplishment would be plagiaristic. Therefore, when called to a task that is bigger than you, dare to trust God to build the house and guard the city. Why should you labor in vain?
