Title

“Quid Pro Quo”

Scripture
Heal me, O Lord, and I shall be healed; Save me, and I shall be saved, For You are my praise.
(Jeremiah 17:14)
Devotional
There is a well-used legal term known as “Quid Pro Quo.” It is used in law for the giving of one valuable thing for another. The “Quid Pro Quo” of the Lord is all one-sided. He gives one good thing for another. When He heals you, you are healed, and when He saves you, you are saved. The only good thing we give in return is our praise. Praise is not a trade, it is simply one good thing for another. We are to praise God because He is good, and worthy to be praised. “Quid Pro Quo” is a mutual consideration between two parties which renders their covenant valid and binding. Therefore, we are healed because God has healed us, and we are saved because God has saved us. It is for this wonderful reason that we are obligated via “Quid Pro Quo” to make Him our praise.
