The fear of the Lord is a fountain of refuge, to turn away from the snares of death.(Proverbs 14:27)
Devotional
The fear of the Lord is a positive motivation. Anything that would keep you and me from wrong or harm is a positive reinforcement. It seems as if the only thing we fear is causing fear-How foolish! It is a good thing for children to fear their parents. It is good to fear violating the laws of the land. It is a great thing to fear the Lord your God. As a child, nothing kept me more in line than the fear of my parents and civil authority. Proper fear is a life savor-As our text says, it will “turn away from the snares of death.” Our problem steams from our inordinate fears. We fear man. We fear loneliness. We fear poverty. We fear not being popular. We have a myriad of phobias that produce nothing but more fear and death. I promise you, if you have the right fear of God you will fear nothing else; because, “The fear of the Lord is a refuge.” Those who run to it are safe.Daily Reading
