For it was of the Lord to harden their hearts, that they should come against Israel…that He might destroy them…(Joshua 11:20)
Devotional
What does it mean for the Lord to harden someone’s heart? Does it mean that those whose hearts are hardened have no choice in the matter? Are they victims of God? Certainly not, God hardens the hearts of the ungodly with truth. A rebellious heart will always harden itself against the Word of the Lord. When the truth of the gospel is spoken to an evil heart, that heart will harden itself against it. God therefore hardened the hearts of these evil nations in order that they would come against His people. This is God’s method of removing the evil from the Land. God will not always have us to find favor with the world. There are times that He will harden their hearts in order that the world would turn against the children of the Lord that He might remove sin from the land. When the enemies of the gospel harden their hearts against you, remember; God may be using you to destroy the evil in their lives.Daily Reading
