Scripture
As righteousness leads to life, so he who pursues evil pursues it to his own death.(Proverbs 11:19)
Devotional
Right living leads to an abundant life. An abundant life is obtained by obedience to Christ. This is a promise of God. On the other hand, “There is a way that seems right to a person, but its end is the way of death.” I am amazed how we so very often pursue our own way instead of the ways of God. We mistakenly live our lives as if we know better than the One who created us. I know for example that God says that the tithe is His and that He will bless me for obediently giving. Yet, we justify ourselves by saying a really foolish thing like, “I can not afford to give God that which belongs to Him.” We furthermore neglect the assembling of ourselves and vindicate ourselves by accusing God’s children of being hypocrites. We also know to do right and do not and expect God to acquiesce to our selfishness. The Bible is clear. These things lead to death, while obedience to God leads to an abundant, righteous life.Daily Reading
