Title

The Glory That Once Was Egypt

Scripture
Where are they? Where are your wise men? Let them tell you now, and let them know what the Lord…has purposed against Egypt.
(Isaiah 19:12)
Devotional
One of the wealthiest and greatest civilizations of ancient history had to be Egypt. Egyptology remains a fascinating study even after milleniums of faded glory. The glory that once was Rome is far surpassed by the glory that once was Egypt. What happened? How did such an educated, wealthy conquering nation languish? The answer is more than evident. God took His hand off of them. He announced their demise and their demise will remain until He restores their glory. He says that they will again turn to the Lord and that He will bless them. That day is yet to come. When God blesses, no one can remove that blessing and when He curses, no one can remove that curse. All we can do is impede or expedite them. Sin and rebellion turns God from us, while repentance and obedience causes Him to return. Has the Lord purposed against you? Repent and obey, He will return.
