Title

Agreement Or Truth?

Scripture
Is there not still a prophet of the Lord here, that we may inquire of him?… There is still one man by whom we may inquire of the Lord; but I hate him, because he never prophesies good concerning me…
(2 Chronicles 18:6-7)
Devotional
“Jehoshaphat had riches and honor in abundance.” It may have been for this reason that the four hundred prophets would only tell him what he wanted to hear instead of the truth. However, one man, Micaiah was willing to tell him the truth no matter what the consequences. What is it that you wish to hear, good news only or the truth? What is it that you desire to give, flirtatious complements, or an honest response? We all like to hear positive, upbeat messages, but life is more than making people feel good. It is about making people better. This is the obligation of the truth. Truth spoken in love will always produce a greater result than the best of intentions. You may love flattery, but flattery does not edify. You may hate the truth, but the truth, as the scriptures say, will set you free.
