Title

Obedience Is Better Than Understanding

Scripture
And He said to him, “Go, wash in the pool of Siloam…” So he went and washed, and came back seeing.
(John 9:7)
Devotional
Jesus could have just as easily said, “Be healed and receive your sight.” Instead He placed mud made with spit in this blind man’s eyes and sent him to wash in the town pool. I do not understand why, but I know that the blind man came back seeing. This seemingly senseless act brought about a wonderful result, the blind healed. The only thing I can figure is that Jesus wanted the Pharisees to know that He was Lord of everything, including the Sabbath. Therefore instead of merely speaking, He healed the blind man with His word accompanied by work. We may not always understand the direction of the Lord, but we can always trust Him and the results of His commands. We may be bewildered, and confused as to why He has directed us to do so. However, there is one thing for sure; if we do, we will come back seeing.
