Watch Out For A Stolen Heart

Scripture
In this manner Absalom acted toward all Israel who came to the king for judgment. So Absalom stole the hearts of the men of Israel.
(2 Samuel 15:6)
Devotional
Watch out for those who would attempt to allure you to themselves, especially in church and business. The duty of the church is to win people to Christ, not to self. Likewise, our motives in government as well as in business should be for the betterment of others. Absalom knew how to charm people to himself. However, in so doing he had to defraud another, his own father. There has to be a higher cause than yourself. A charismatic leader may influence the masses for a while, but sooner or later his charisma will wane. The height of Absalom’s fame was his drawing people to himself. However, once they were allured, their demise was quick to follow. The only man to qualify as the center of life is Christ Jesus. Christ will endeavor to win your heart. The thief will attempt to steal it. Therefore, watch out for a stolen heart.
