Title

The Dilemma Of The Poor

Scripture
Blessed is he who considers the poor; The Lord will deliver him in time of trouble.
(Psalm 41:1)
Devotional
I don’t understand poverty, especially God’s direction toward it. The earth is filled with all the riches needed for man to prosper, yet man does not. There is enough wealth for everyone, yet only a few posses it. Why are only a few wealthy, and why are so many impoverished? It has to be a matter of giving. Giving must be the way to godly riches. We are commanded to give to the poor. Why, so that they can remain in their poverty? I think not. There are basically two reasons to give: first, because God said so, and second that we may truly help. If someone needs help and we are able, we should help them, but it would be an injustice to stop there. Why not help them out of their poverty through godly council, and if available, opportunity? We can give money, but I believe even better than money is hope.
